Employee-side law in Torrance, Long Beach and San Pedro

The South Bay clocks in at all hours. So do we.

We're employment lawyers for the people who keep the harbor, the hospitals, the hotels and the warehouses running. If you were shorted on pay, pushed out or treated unfairly, we'll hear it after your shift, in English or Spanish.

  • Evenings and Saturdays
  • English and Spanish
  • Sayuri Hayashi, a woman with a dark chin-length bob in a navy blazer over a light blue shirt, hands clasped, against a white backdrop
  • Alejandro Segovia, a smiling man with short black hair in a black suit, arms crossed, leaning on a stool against a white backdrop
  • Naoki Okabe, a man in a black suit and tie with his fingertips pressed together, against a white backdrop
  • Glenn Tamashiro, a man with round glasses in a black suit and white shirt, hands clasped in front, against a white backdrop

We charge no attorney's fee unless we recover money for you. Case costs, such as filing fees and records, are explained in your written agreement before you sign, including how they're handled if there is no recovery.

Offices

Pick the office closest to your commute

Each one is a short drive or bus ride from the places we hear about most: the harbor, the airport hotels, the hospitals and the warehouse yards.

How we help

The four calls we take most

Four kinds of problem make up most of our calls. Each has a page that says what we look at first.

  • Shorted on pay

Overtime never paid, breaks worked through, tips kept back, a final check that came late or short.

    Pay, overtime and breaks
  • Fired or pushed out

A firing with no reason, a forced resignation, or a layoff that doesn't add up.

    Fired or pushed out
  • Treated worse

Discrimination, harassment, and being left out of the chances everyone else gets.

    Discrimination and harassment
  • Punished for speaking up

Fewer shifts, a sudden write-up or a firing after you reported a problem or asked for leave.

    Retaliation

The South Bay

We know the work that fills this coast

From the docks to the wards, the work here doesn't stop at five.

People here start before the fog burns off and finish after the last bus. We set the firm up around that, with offices between the harbor and the airport and appointments that don't cost you a shift. We've heard about most of these workplaces before.

  • Harbor, shipping and trucking

  • Hospitals and care homes

  • Hotels, airports and restaurants

  • Warehouses and delivery

  • Refineries and plants

The people who pick up

Three lawyers, and the wage analyst who works every file with them. Alejandro speaks Spanish with clients.

From clients

Said once the paperwork was done

“I came straight from a night shift, still in my scrubs. Alejandro answered in Spanish and wrote down my schedule while I talked. I understood every step.”

Noelia R.Hospital unit clerk

“Nobody at work explained my severance paper. Naoki read it with me and told me what each page meant before I decided anything.”

Toshio M.Dock worker

“They didn't promise me anything. They told me what they could look into and what to bring, and then they called when they said they would.”

Gilda P.Restaurant server

Each client's case is different. What one person experienced says nothing about the outcome of another case.
